More than recycling. More than saving energy.
More than certificates.
Sustainability at Wenner.
Certificates aren’t everything…
Over the years, certificates have emerged that stand for quality, sustainability and much more. Having these certificates was never enough for us at Wenner. Decades ago, we were among the first to discover – and tap into – the potential of photovoltaics to generate the energy we need ourselves. We now generate more than 30% of the electrical energy we need ourselves. Our production facilities are not heated and, if necessary, cooled with natural gas, but with geothermal energy. In addition, we recover the process waste heat and use it to heat our buildings.
Our raw materials are solid board, 95% or 100% of which are recycled products. Thanks to our proximity to our HZI raw material partner, we know that the raw cardboard for our packaging is produced in a CO2-neutral way and does not have to be transported over long distances. This is all important to us and part of our strategy and vision: we believe that packaging made from recycled cardboard is sustainable and has a long and successful future ahead of it. With new non-fossil energy sources in the production process, it is the perfect sustainable packaging material.

Air conditioning by heat pump and heat recovery
The cooling and heating of the operating and administration rooms is controlled via groundwater and waste heat utilisation. The conversion of the heating system will save around 300,000 kilowatt hours of oil/natural gas per year. This corresponds to a CO2 reduction of around 60,000 kg per year through hot water production alone.
